Abrasive Blasting in Orlando

Abrasive blasting is often called sandblasting. It is the operation in which an abrasive material is forcibly propelled against a surface under high pressure. This process is used to smooth a surface, remove contaminants or in some cases, shape a surface. It can even create a piece of art! Various media are used depending upon the project. Some media is highly abrasive, while others are milder.

Types of Abrasive Blasting

Additionally, there are many types of abrasive blasting: sandblasting, wet abrasive blasting, bead blasting, wheel blasting, hydro-blasting, micro-abrasive blasting, and others. These metal finishing processes are controlled by the equipment used, nozzle sizes, media used and the operation of the entire procedure.

The first abrasive blasting process was patented by Benjamin Chew Tilghman on October 18, 1870.
